The July 2024 DC bar exam results will be released earlier than expected, on November 5th, 2024. Virginia bar exam results are still on time, expected this afternoon. Stay tuned…
If you sat for the Virginia July 2024 bar exam, this is a reminder that you have until August 29th to sign up for the prototype NextGen bar exam which will be given on October 18 and 19th in Richmond. If you took another state’s bar exam there are numerous other testing locations and other dates for those jurisdictions (32 jurisdictions in all are participating). This is a great opportunity to see what the new bar exam will look like and also get compensated $1,500 for 9 hours of effort. The new exam will debut in just under 2 years (July 2026) so the NCBE is getting close to wrapping things up with this public prototype.
You should have received an email if you sat for the Virginia 2024 bar exam regarding this. Keep in mind, there is no guarantee Virginia will use the NextGen bar exam in the future as they have not committed to anything at this time.
I have locked in my summer 2024 bar exam roster and have no more slots available. If you have extenuating circumstances or just have some questions feel free to email me. Good luck to everyone preparing for the exam this summer!
Both Virginia and DC have released their full results for the February 2024 bar exam. DC’s pass rate for the UBE was quite low, not even reaching 50%, with an overall pass rate of 44.6% representing the 298 people who passed the exam.
Virginia had a higher pass rate as usual with 66.08% of all test takers passing the exam and almost 3/4 (73.49%) of first time takers passing. Congrats to George Mason University and Appalachian School of Law for having the highest overall passing rate at 83.33%!
In the next few weeks I will be taking some time to post about the NextGen Bar Exam that is replacing the existing bar exam (goodbye MBE and essays) in the next few years. Until then, congratulations to everyone who passed! And for those of you that did not pass this time, take some time off to relax and think about your study approach. One of the most important things to do is to change part of your approach for the next time, don’t just repeat the exact same method unless you had extenuating circumstances.
With less than a week to go until the February 2024 Virginia bar exam results, and about 2 weeks for the DC bar exam results, we see other states starting to post. The initial pass rates look lower than usual, but will need to let more states report before drawing any conclusions. Will update here when Virginia and DC post their results. Hang tight, the wait is almost over.
