  • Virginia summer 2010 results to be posted Oct 20, 2010

The Virginia Board of Bar Examiners has informed us that the results of the July 2010 bar exam will be posted on October 20, 2010.

  • DC Virginia July 2010 Bar Exam is over

It’s over. Both exams looked tough this time around. We had DC (via the NCBE) throw a crazy crossover question on the essay portion and Virginia go absolutely nuts and test nearly every subject possible on the essays (17 subjects tested on essays). Additionally, the MBE was not an “easier” MBE as the past 2 July ones have been.

Starting with DC, predictions were fairly accurate but we had a first ever contracts/comm paper crossover question along with the unpredicted family law and civ pro. Quite surprised to see they skipped criminal this time around, making only two MBE subject questions. Hopefully this is not a new trend as criminal law is a cornerstone for any newly licensed attorney to be familiar with.

As for Virginia, they went nuts on the essay subjects testing as follows:
    1) Wills/VA Civ Pro
    2) Va Civ Pro/Fed Civ Pro/Conflicts
    3) Sales
    4) Personal Property/VA Civ Pro (more…)

  • Good luck this week on the Bar Exam – DC Summer 2010 essay predictions

Good luck to everyone taking the bar exam this week, just a few more days to study, make it count.

As for the DC essays, here are my rough predictions:
    Contracts
    Criminal
    Constitutional
    Corporations
    Trusts
    Commercial Paper or Agency/Partnership

As always, there is no guarantee on these predictions. The bar examiners can ask about any of the subjects they choose, and they always like to throw a curve ball on each exam. Good luck!

  • 10 days until the July Summer 2010 Bar Exam

With 10 days until the Summer 2010 Bar Exam, I just wanted to wish everyone good luck in the home stretch. Now is the time to focus your efforts and cram as much as you can. I’ll post my predictions for the DC Bar Exam next week to help you fine tune your last weekend of studying for the essays.

For those of you taking the Virginia Bar Exam, I’ll post my predictions for that exam next week as well.

  • DC Bar Exam late filing deadline is tomorrow

Just a friendly reminder that the late filing deadline for the July 2010 DC Bar Exam is no later than 4PM in Room 123 at the Committee on Admissions tomorrow, May 18th.

  • DC Feb 2010 Bar Exam Results

A low pass rate showing a difficult exam are the results being posted today for the Feb 2010 Bar Exam:

    http://www.dcappeals.gov/dccourts/appeals/coa/exam_results.jsp

We see a 41% overall pass rate, with 61% of first-time takers passing. Less than 100 people passed total. Congratulations to everyone who passed! For those of you who did not, don’t despair, you can focus on your weaknesses and pass in July 2010.

  • Virginia Feb 2010 Results out – 57.2% Overall pass rate

Results from the Virginia February 2010 bar exam have been posted as of last Thursday evening. The pass rate was 57.2% overall, and 66.7% for first-time takers. Seems like both the MBE and essays were above average difficulty. But that is apparent when only just over half the people taking it passed. Not a very high pass rate, but it was a challenging exam. For those of you who passed, congratulations! For those of you who did not, don’t lose focus. Register for July 2010 and focus on your weak subjects and frequently tested subjects and you will pass.

For those of you still waiting for DC bar results, I feel your pain. Hopefully something will be posted soon.

  • Feb 2010 Bar Exam is over

The February 2010 Bar Exam is officially over. Congratulations to everyone who took it. Now the wait begins for the results. The MBE was an average difficulty MBE, I’d say a 6/10 relative to past MBEs. As usual, one section was harder than the other (in my case, morning was more difficult). Well, time to get back to the real world for a little bit until July 2010 preparations start!

  • Day 1 of the Feb 2010 Bar Exam is Over

Day 1 is over and the MPT/MEE are finished. Hopefully everyone did well. The MPT’s were a change from the NCBE’s usual memo/memo lineup, but following the same methodologies, the execution was the same.

Thankfully my MEE predictions for this bar were on-point, save for missing contracts and trusts questions. What gives? Glad fed civ pro was bumped up into the running as well.

Anyway, for those of you heading into the MBE, it’s almost over. For those of you who were essay-only, congratulations on finishing!

  • Feb 2010 Bar Exam is upon us

Well, it’s the night before the bar exam. I would like to wish everyone good luck on the bar exam tomorrow. Keep your finger’s cross for your favorite (i.e. – least-hated) essay subjects to appear on the MEE.

    Good luck!
