Virginia and Washington DC released their bar exam results the same week for the first time I can remember. Here are the stats and my thoughts on each one.
For Virginia, 71% of all test takers passed the exam with over 76% of first time takers passing. Regent University had the highest overall pass rate at a very impressive 94% followed closely by
UVA at 92%. The Virginia exam, as always, was a tough yet fair exam and the results reflect that. Congratulations to everyone who passed as Virginia is one of the toughest bar exams in the country!
In Washington DC, exactly 800 people out of 1,112 passed, resulting in a 72% overall pass rate. The DC exam went fairly smoothly this summer although it remains to be seen if the grading has improved yet or not as they have had some fairly serious quality issue regarding grading and now that there is no petition/review process for scoring/regrading it is a difficult prospect to advise anyone to take DC until they demonstrate a consistently fair and accurate grading criteria. That being said, congratulations to everyone who passed this summer!
