July 2015 Bar Exam is over! DC and VA breakdown of subjects

Exhausted, tired, relieved that the bar exam is over. It was a long, hot summer. I am so relieved to have the rest of the summer to relax and I hope everyone else is able to enjoy these next few months till results come out. I know that waiting for results is painful and stinks but make the best of it and enjoy the free time as a result of not having to study, I know I will.

I thought the Virginia essays were fair and straightforward. They tested the following subjects:

Agency, Local Government, Commercial Paper, Secured Transactions, Sales, Real Property, VA Procedure, Criminal Law, Corporations, Professional Responsibility and Federal Civ. Pro. The short answer and multiple choice questions for VA were split between straightforward and obscure as usual.

Over in Washington DC they tested Torts, Contracts, Civ Pro, Trusts, Crim Law, and Corporations. A good selection of important subjects although I think the essays were a bit tougher this summer than last administration.

The MBE was quite similar to this past February, with the Civ Pro questions being about the same as well which was nice. It’s a damn hard exam, but I don’t think this summer was any worse than last, maybe even a little better with the inclusion of Civ Pro since there were less of the other 6 subjects and I think those are all more difficult than the Civ Pro questions (for now anyway).

I’ll post when results come out in October/November (VA is slated for October 30th), until then I plan to enjoy my extra free time and not obsess too much over the results. Cheers!
