The official national mean scores for the Feb 2013 MBE exam have been posted. Looks like people did slightly better this past February than usual as the mean was 138.0, which is about a point or so higher than the typical Feb mean. The range of scoring was pretty normal, showing a low score of 73.3 to a most excellent high score of 183.2. Good luck to everyone still waiting for results to be released for their jurisdiction.

What does this mean for raw scores? What would the raw score for a 138 be?
Don’t yet have the raw scale, will know in early May.
What is the average mean score for July?
143-144 typically
That means it is harder to pass in February than July. I heard VA curves their essays to the MBE.
A higher mean score does not indicate a higher scale. The scale is based on the relative difficulty of the specific administration of the MBE.
I see. Either way, I guess all the VA takers will find out tomorrow (good or bad news).
February always has a significantly lower pass rate, in nearly all states, mainly as a result of the larger number of repeat takers.
I was a repeat taker too (second time taking it). I missed it in July by 4 points, got a 136. I thought a few of the essays were much harder this time around though.
