We’re getting closer to February’s bar exam results, with Virginia’s coming next week. Here are the expected and anticipated dates for the February 2013 bar exam results for VA, DC, MD, NY, TX and CA:
Virginia – Expected April 25, 2013
DC – Anticipated May 1, 2013
Maryland – Expected May 3, 2013
Texas – Expected May 3, 2013
New York – Anticipated May 9, 2013
California – Expected May 17, 2013

How are these dates determined? For example, I understand that DC has released some February results at the end of April (some years that have waited until May). I believe the last two years have been in April.
“Expected” dates are the ones I have confirmation from the examiners on the expected date. “Anticipated” dates, such as DC, are simply the dates we are anticipating the results are released and can vary. My guess is DC will release in early May this year, but hopefully I am wrong and they come out sooner.
Has anyone heard anything about DC results, i.e., spoken with anyone at the Committee on Admissions, called, or seen anything at the courthouse, etc.? Thank you.
Nothing so far. You will not hear anything until the results are posted on the door at the courthouse office of the committee on admissions. The website is typically updated a few days later, and results are mailed out the same day so most local candidates receive their results before the website is updated.
What about Indiana?
Indiana will be May 2nd.
What about NY?
I’m hoping for sometime mid-to-late next week. May 9th is what I originally anticipated and that seems to be the most likely time.
For DC, what time do they usually post the results on the door? Does anyone have any other updates about the results being released tomorrow?
BTW, May 1st was only my anticipated release date from months back. There is no guarantee they will release tomorrow. They should be out this week, or next week at the absolute latest. They have posted the results on the door around lunchtime.
I don’t understand why DC wouldn’t announce an exact date for the results like most other states do. The stress is nerve-racking, and you don’t know if you should register for the July exam, which has the normal registration deadline of May 3.
I’m just curious why you say next week at the absolute latest. During the Feb. exam, I actually remember them saying, it might take till June. I understand they’d say that, but are you really sure that the results will absolutely be out by next week?
DC never gives an exact date. And yes, it is highly inconvenient. If the results are given after the normal registration deadline, they will waive the late fee if you took it in February and did not pass, so don’t worry about that.
As for my anticipating the results coming out no later than next week, I make no promises, but as I said, they should be out by next week at the very latest.
