The results for the July 2011 DC Bar Exam have been posted here:
http://www.dcbar.org/for_lawyers/membership/current_members/examResults.cfm
The results are a low 46% pass rate with a good number (64%) of first time takers passing. Congratulations to everyone who passed! For those of you who did not pass, don’t despair. Go over your scores, think about how you did in relation to your studying and practice and then reassess in the coming weeks. And be sure to register for the Feb 2012 bar exam before the deadline, don’t be discouraged.
My next post will be on MPRE strategy for the upcoming administration of the MPRE exam, stay tuned.
Additionally, you can get the results in PDF format here:

I failed the bar by 18 points. Three of my essay questions scores were low. I know there was only one subject (Civ Pro) I merely glanced at. The other subject areas I studued pretty intense.
I intend to ask for a regrading? Have you heard of anyone ask for a regrading and getting it?
Anonymous – Would you mind sharing: (1) your essay preparation approach/strategy; and (2) your scores?
To the first poster who failed by 18 points:
You can attend the DC bar review where you go over your essays and can see the scores you received along with the grader comments. You can (and should) petition a regrade after that if you feel your grading was genuinely in error, but 18 points is a large deficit to overcome by regrading.
To the second poster asking about essay strategy and scores:
1) Essays are the area of the DC bar exam that I usually focus on the least. I’m sure they exist, but I have not met a person who failed the bar exam because of essay scores. Most fail because of MBE and essay, MBE and MPT, just MBE, or sometimes just MPT. I’ve never seen someone fail the exam and have a solid MBE and MPT score.
2) As for scores, the main (only) thing to remember is that whether you pass the bar exam by 1 point, or you get the highest score in the state, you are licensed to practice either way.
Bar Exam Tutor – Yes, that makes sense considering the MBE accounts for 50% of the entire examination.
