Tomorrow is the MBE… I recommend a solid evening of studying flash cards or doing random MBE questions… Many people don’t want to study the day before the MBE, but I highly recommend it and it is part of my methodology… Get a normal night of sleep, and rest assured you will do well tomorrow!

Actual DC July 2009 MEE topics:
Trusts
Secured Transactions
Conlaw
Crimlaw / Crimpro
Family Law / Conflict of Laws
Wills
Actual DC July 2009 MPT topics:
Memo to senior attorney (analysis of defense)
Letter to opposing counsel
Oops–the DC crimlaw / crimpro essay was combined with evidence.
The MBE portion was a KILLER, with the test questions from Adaptibar, Micromash, BarBri, and PMBR (I used them all) doing little to help. This was an MBE that really required you to know black letter law and your outlines–relying on doing thousands of test questions probably wasn’t that helpful. I was surprised at how different the actual MBE questions looked compared to what I’ve been testing with–even Adaptibar.
There were some distractions in the A.M. and P.M. DC MBE sessions, with one idiot in the A.M. session actually having the phone on his / her (I didn’t see) person ring multiple times and fumbled with before being silenced. Another idiot (female this time because it was a purse that contained the phone) allowed her phone to ring and ring at the drop-off area in the front of the testing room in the P.M. session. Fortunately for the two offenders, they weren’t booted out–but they should have been… I left my cell at home where it belonged.
It was nice to have CUA host the exam–convenient metro access, nice facilities, and all that–but what’s with the rickety wooden tables!? At least put some table cloths on them!
I don’t know. I thought the MBEs were fair. I know for a fact I’ve seen quite a few of those questions before — just where I can’t recall: may have been from the NCBE Annotated (I took two of those) or Strategies and Tactics, but I’ve definitely seen some before.
That being said, there were a few that were totally from left field and I wasn’t even sure if they were testing any of the 6 MBE topics. Seemed to be some other body of law.
Anyway, I had my earplugs in and didn’t hear a damn thing. Good luck, all.
I thought the secured transactions essay was the trickiest…anyone else think so?
Any idea when the July 2009 examination results will be posted? It seems like it should be some time soon.
